Many of the Vogelson Branch (aka The Library Across the Street From The Mall, or TLATSFTM, which just trips off the tongue) Gaming Club's members noted at this week's meeting that for all the hoopla surrounding the release of the PS3, the gaming system they're most excited about is Nintendo's Wii. I have to say, as a gaming novice (my parents did not hold truck with video games, so we never even had so much as an Atari), this is the only gaming system I've ever seen that made me think I could ever really get into gaming, myself.
It's so friendly-looking (way to steal the classic iPod look, Nintendo! Smart move!), and the games that it comes bundled with look fun, especially to a non-gamer like me.
One drawback I've been hearing quite a bit about is the weak wrist-straps that the controllers come with. Apparently, enthusiastic players have been whipping them around and making them detach, effectively throwing the controllers around the room. Happily, Nintendo is addressing the issue by shipping new Wiis with hardier wristbands. Yay, Nintendo!
If any teens out there have a Wii that they would feel comfortable sharing with others, you are very warmly invited to attend our Gaming Club's next meeting, which will be held on December 18, 2006, from 3-4:30 in Meeting Room A on the 3rd Floor of the Vogelson Branch. See you there!
