New YouTube eReader Tutorial

Have an eReader?   You can check out ebooks from the collection we share with other South Jersey libraries and transfer them to your Nook, Sony eReader, Kobo and other readers, as well as the iPhone, iPad, and Droid.   Customers with Kindles will also be able to use the ebook collection beginning this fall.

Camden County Library now has a YouTube tutorial on exactly how to find eBooks, check them out, download them to your computer and transfer them to your device.   In the video we use a Nook, but the process is very similar for the Sony eReader,  Kobo and any other reader that supports Overdrive eBooks.  (Note: you will not need this tutorial for the iPad, iPhone or Droid, as you can download ebooks directly using the Overdrive Media Console App.)

You can watch the video on YouTube or on the library website.  Choose to watch it in three parts or all at once.

New: Library Mobile Website

Camden County Library has a new mobile website for phones with Internet access.  The new website is a pared-down version of the main library website, with just the features that a visitor on the go will need.  It has been designed to load quickly and fit nicely on a variety of mobile phones.

Mobilephone On the road, at work or at school?  Use the mobile website to find locations, hours, and directions, news and events. Try using Ebscohost's mobile-friendly databases with your library card number for research questions when you have no computer available.

You can use the mobile catalog to search for and request titles.  Log into your library record to see what you have checked out, renew titles, and view the status of your holds.  In the library and looking for call numbers?  You don't need scraps of papers and little pencils anymore!  Find the titles you want through the mobile catalog and head into the stacks with your phone.

The address of the new site is http://www.camdencountylibrary.org/m.  You can also get to the site by clicking the link at the top of the main library homepage, directly to the right of the Camden County Library System logo.

New blog on the Camden County Library website

The “New at the Camden County Library” webpage that you are currently reading is now a blog.  What will this mean to readers?  You can still view news releases by clicking on “New at the Library” on the homepage, or the titles of any news articles.  But now you can do more.  Each entry in a blog is dated, archived, and categorized.  Want to see what happened earlier in the year?  Looking for news in just one category?  You can find links to date and category archives in the left column.

It’s much easier to share or save information with a blog.  At the bottom of each news item is a link for “Comments.”  Click on the link if you have a question, or have some information to add.  You can forward the item to a friend by clicking on the link for “E-mail this post.”  If you use the online bookmark site, del.icio.us, (what is this?) you can quickly add any news item to your list of favorites by clicking on the link "Add to del.icio.us."

Would you like to automatically receive a news item each time it is added?  You can subscribe to the RSS feed (what is this?), to receive Camden County Library news in a feed reader like Bloglines or Google Reader.  Click on the link at the bottom of the left column that says “Subscribe in a reader.”  Then choose the reader you use from the list on the next page.

Have questions or comments on this new blog?  Click on the “Comments” link below and let us know what you think!
