Voorhees Library Running Teen Video Contest for The Corner
Chance for young film makers to show off their talents
The Corner – new teen space at Voorhees Library – stages a video contest for teens.
VOORHEES, N.J. – March 8, 2010 – Are you the next Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, James Cameron? Here’s your chance to show the world (at least our corner of it).
The Corner – the new teen space at the M. Allan Vogelson Regional Branch Library in Voorhees is staging a video contest to give young film makers the chance to use their talents in promoting – you guessed it – The Corner.
The Camden County Library’s Teen Space Video Contest is accepting submissions until Friday, March 26, 2010. The competition is open anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 or currently enrolled in sixth through twelfth grade.
Films must be suitable for an audience of all ages – in other words it must meet the requirements of a “G” rating as established by the Motion Picture Association of America. A piece can be anywhere from 30 seconds to three minutes in length and the members of the crew creating the film must between 12 and 18 years old.
Films can use any genre and medium – comedy, drama, video, animation, music, sound effects, wherever your creative streak takes you as long it promotes The Corner in a manner acceptable for all ages. Films must be submitted in DVD format.
All submissions will be accepted for screening. A jury panel made up of teens and library professionals will decide the winner. The winning film will be featured on our Teen Space YouTube page as well as our Teen Face Book page and will earn its creator a $25 gift card to Hot Topics.
Depending on the number of submissions, the library’s Youth Services department plans to stage a video festival to showcase all of the clips submitted on The Corner’s 52 inch flat-screen television.
The contest is free. Entry forms can be picked up in person at the Youth Services desk of the Vogelson Branch library located on Laurel Rd. across from the Voorhees Town Center (formerly the Echelon Mall) or by e-mailing Christen Orbanus at corban@camdencountylibrary.org .
Remember, the deadline is Friday, March 26, 2010.
